Writer’s Block

What is writer’s block?

Some times, I sit outside, in the car, waiting at the doctor’s office, etc., and imagine scenarios for the book I’m writing, or an idea formulating in my mind. When I sit down to put onto paper what was running unheeded in my head, I have nothing to put down. This happened a few days ago and it made me wonder; is writer’s block when you can’t think of anything to write, or when you can’t form into sentences and paragraphs the scenarios in your head.

So, what is to be done? Do you sit in front of your computer staring blankly at the sheet in front of you, shut everything down and walk away, type randomly and hope that something triggers your spark of ingenuity, or bang your head against the keyboard until both you and your computer are senseless?

What do you consider writer’s block and what do you do to get over it?
